Manchester Synagogue Attack: A Casualty Appears to Have Been Shot by Police
During a tragic turn of events, one of the victims lost during the Manchester synagogue assault appears to have been fatally wounded by armed police officers.
Official Statement Reveals Gunshot Wound
The senior officer of Greater Manchester Police stated that a forensic expert has provisionally determined the man died of a bullet injury.
“Overnight, we have taken advice from forensic specialists ahead of full postmortem examinations set to occur later today. The expert has advised that preliminary findings show one of the deceased victims would appear to have suffered a injury matching a firearm wound.”
Suspect Details
The suspect, a 35-year-old individual, was not carrying a firearm, and the only shots fired were by the police officers on site.
Authorities think the victim was part of the group positioned at the entrance seeking to prevent the assailant from entering the building.
Consequences of Police Action
“It follows therefore that subject to further forensic examination, this injury was unfortunately incurred as a unintended and heartbreaking result of the necessary rapid response employed by our personnel to halt this brutal assault.”
Names Released
The two victims who lost their lives during the synagogue incident located in Manchester earlier this week had been named as Adrian Daulby, aged 53 and 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz.
These individuals were killed when a car was used to ram into the property of the local Jewish place of worship, then stabbed worshippers in a six-minute rampage that ended only when police with firearms fired upon him, ending his life at the door of the temple.
Additional Injuries
Three more people sustained major injuries in the attack on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish year.
The chief constable added, “We have also been advised that another injured person now hospitalized sustained a firearm injury, which is fortunately non-fatal. Officials think the two individuals were close together at the entrance, as worshippers acted bravely to stop the assailant from gaining entry.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are directed toward the affected relatives, and the wider community, impacted by this incident in the region and elsewhere. Trained personnel are providing support and care for all of those directly affected, including our brave first responders.”
Suspect Background
Police named the attacker as Shamie, 35, a British citizen of Syrian descent.
Greater Manchester police reported that three additional individuals – two male suspects and a woman in her 60s – had been arrested “on suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism”.
